Update on U.S. Federal Government Shutdown

On the evening of Monday, January 22, the President signed a measure to fund the U.S. federal government through February 8. This ended a three-day government shutdown in which many federal government offices were impacted, including immigration-related services like the Social Security Administration.

While government services are currently operational, the threat of another shutdown remains until a long-term funding agreement is reached in Congress. The Office of International Services will continue to monitor the situation closely and notify the UIC international community if and when any immigration-related services are impacted by a shutdown after February 8 or the resulting long-term funding agreement.
