Photo Contest Winners Announced!
Photo Contest
In celebration of International Education Week, November 12-16, 2012, the Office of International Services is sponsoring a photo contest open to the entire UIC campus community. Beginning in 2000, International Education Week has been celebrated in over 100 countries and all 50 states. The U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education initiated the week-long celebration to promote global understanding and exchange between the United States and other countries.

Thank you to everyone that submitted a photo to the 2012 photo contest. Keeping with our theme of "Igniting Global Communication," we would like to announce this year's winners:

3rd Place: International AIDS Conference 2012: People [come] from many countries with different languages and cultures but 'speak' in the same mission - to end the AIDS in the world. For me, global communication is started from searching for one vision that unites the differences. 3rd place
2nd Place: The photograph is a still life assembly which brings about the essence of the theme. The curled up clothes in blue and green with data cables woven across them directly suggest global communication. The guitar head and amplifier on the sides also suggest being vocal and being receptive, different forms of communication, expressed in the musical sense. 2nd place
1st Place: Even in the middle of the nowhere, [the] Gobi desert, a Shepard is herding his goats and sheep with his iPad. He might be checking his Facebook or GPS. Global communication is connecting every corner of the world. 1st place
